Abstract:
The column structures of jacket platforms are occasionally reported to be struck by stand-by vessels, which render the anti-collision performance of the column structure to be priority during the design process. Although the NORSOK standard and the API specifications are among the most widely recognized for the column structure design, their feasibility has not been fully approved by domestic users. To investigate the applicability of the previously mentioned specifications in the field of anti-collision,a numerical study is conducted based on the scenario that a column structure is struck by lateral impacts from a supply vessel. The simulation results reveal distinct curves regarding the collision force vs. penetration at different striking points and under different design criteria. Finally, these results are compared with those obtained with the NORSOK and API standards, which successfully validates the feasibility of the presented specifications.
