Abstract:
Objectives The phenomenon of ice accretion on ships is easy to appear on polar ships, which will reduce the stability of the ship and have a detrimental impact on parametric rolling. The calculation of ice accretion in the existing Polar Rules does not consider the environmental factors and cannot truly reflect the actual scenerio of ice accretion on ships.
Methods Based on the research on the prediction model of the ship's ice accretion at home and abroad, a program for calculating the weight and center of gravity of the ship's ice accretion was developed by using VB and MATLAB. Then, the first level vulnerability critera of parametric rolling of two actual ships under different combination of speed and sea states were carried out, and the influence of different factors on the vulnerability of the ship's parametric rolling was analyzed.
Results The analysis results show that both the increase in wind velocity and ship speed and the decrease in temperature have an adverse effect on parametric rolling.
Conclusions The study in this paper can provide reference for the promotion and application of the calculation of ship's ice accretion and the vulnerability criteria of parametric rolling in the polar navigation area.
