Advances in the study of internal isolated waves and their interaction with marine structures

  • Solitary waves are widely present in densely stratified oceans, which are a common nonlinear, large-amplitude fluctuation phenomenon, which will induce the shear state of seawater flow above and below the wave surface during its propagation process, and cause strong amplitude dispersion and sudden strong flow of seawater. When the moving submersible operates underwater, it is very likely to encounter internal isolated waves, the peak and valley depth of the internal isolated waves, and the energy concentration, which seriously affects the motion stability and hydrodynamic load characteristics of the submersible, which in turn leads to unstable submersible motion and uncontrolled maneuvering. Based on the engineering background of the interaction between solitary waves in the ocean and underwater submersibles, this paper first summarizes the current research on the characteristics of isolated waves at home and abroad from three research directions: theoretical research, observation and experimental research and numerical simulation research. Then, the studies on the interaction between internal solitary waves and structures and the interaction between internal solitary waves and latent bodies were summarized. Finally, based on the current research status of internal isolated waves at home and abroad, the work prospect of internal wave research is further proposed.
