Study on intelligent control technology of airflow for microbubble drag reduction based on improved ant colony algorithm

  •   Objectives  Micro-bubble drag reduction technology has economic and environmental importance for energy conservation and emissions reduction in shipping industry, the realization of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals, the establishment of green and low-carbon transport system. In order to improve the actual efficiency of microbubble drag reduction technology, intelligent control technology of airflow for microbubble drag reduction based on improved ant colony optimization (ACO)algorithm has been developed.
      Methods  Based on the mechanism of microbubble drag reduction, ideal optimal airflow rate at different speeds was obtained by carrying out microbubble drag reduction tests on a self-developed ship model prototype. The software system of intelligent control technology on airflow was developed by employing the improved ACO algorithm. The self-propelled test on ship model installed with intelligent control hardware system was carried out to verify the actual drag reduction effect of this technology.
      Results  The researched technology in this study can effectively control the airflow to reach the best microbubble drag reduction condition, which can also monitor the speed change and adaptively control the airflow to achieve the best drag reduction condition at various speeds.
      Conclusions   The automation and intelligence level of microbubble drag reduction technology are improved by this technique, and the actual efficacy of microbubble drag reduction technology is enhanced.
